Catch The Robber — a game by YourTechGuys
Effective date: 29 July 2026 · Last updated: 29 July 2026
The short version. Catch The Robber has no accounts, no sign-in and no analytics. Your settings and level progress are stored on your device and are never sent to us. The game shows ads, and Google’s advertising service does collect device and ad data to do that — that is the only third party involved, and in the UK and EEA it only happens after you consent.
We, YourTechGuys, do not operate any servers for this game and never receive your personal data.
1. Who we are
This game is developed and published by YourTechGuys (“we”, “us”, “our”), the data controller for the limited processing described below.
Privacy enquiries: privacy@yourtechguys.uk
2. Information stored on your device
The game saves the following locally, using Android’s app storage. This data stays on your phone, is not transmitted to us, and is not shared with anyone:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Music, sound-effect and vibration on/off settings | So the game sounds and feels how you left it |
| Chosen difficulty | So new levels start on your preferred setting |
| Current level and highest level reached | So “Continue” works and your best is remembered |
| Generated sound files held in the app cache | The music and sound effects are synthesised on first launch and cached so they do not have to be regenerated |
None of this identifies you. You can clear it at any time — see Keeping and deleting data.
Android Backup
The game allows Android’s standard backup service to include these settings, so your progress can be restored if you change device. That backup is handled by Google and stored in your Google account under Google’s Privacy Policy — we have no access to it. You can turn backup off in your device settings.
3. Advertising
The game is free and funded by advertising through Google AdMob. We show:
- a banner on the menu and settings screens — never over the playfield;
- an occasional full-screen ad between levels;
- optional rewarded ads you can choose to watch for extra traps or a second chance. These are always opt-in and never required to progress.
To serve ads, Google may collect and process:
- your Android Advertising ID (a resettable identifier);
- device information such as model, operating-system version, language and general device settings;
- your IP address, from which an approximate location (typically country or city level) may be derived;
- ad interaction data — which ads were shown, viewed or clicked;
- basic diagnostic and performance information about the app, such as how long it took to start, whether it stopped responding, and energy usage.
We do not receive any of this data about you individually. We only see aggregated, non-identifying performance totals such as impression and revenue counts.
Google’s handling of this data is governed by How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and Google’s Privacy Policy.
Your consent, and how to change it
If you are in the UK, the EEA or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before any ad is requested, using Google’s certified consent management platform. You can choose whether to allow personalised ads.
You can revisit that choice at any time: open Settings inside the game and tap Privacy Options. Declining personalised ads does not remove ads — you will see non-personalised ones instead, and the game remains fully playable either way.
You can also reset or delete your advertising identifier in your device’s Settings → Privacy → Ads.
4. What we do not do
- No user accounts, sign-in or profiles.
- No analytics or usage-tracking SDK.
- No crash-reporting SDK.
- No access to your contacts, photos, files, microphone, camera or precise location.
- No selling or renting of personal data. We have no data to sell.
- No advertising or marketing emails — we have no way to contact you.
5. Permissions the app requests
| Permission | What it is for |
|---|---|
INTERNET | Loading ads. The game itself is fully playable offline. |
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | Checking whether a connection is available before requesting an ad. |
AD_ID | Required by Google Play so the advertising service can access the resettable advertising ID. |
VIBRATE | Haptic feedback when traps spring. Can be switched off in Settings. |
6. Children
This game is intended for players aged 13 and over and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under the equivalent minimum age in your country).
If you believe a child has provided personal information through this app, please contact privacy@yourtechguys.uk and we will take appropriate action.
7. Who your data is shared with
We do not share your personal data with anyone, because we do not collect it. The only third party that processes data in connection with this app is:
- Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC — advertising delivery, measurement and consent management (AdMob and the User Messaging Platform).
Google may transfer and process data outside your country, including in the United States, using safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. Details are in Google’s Privacy Policy.
8. Keeping and deleting data
- On-device data is kept until you remove it. Use Settings → Reset Progress in the game to clear your level progress, clear the app’s storage from Android settings, or uninstall the app — uninstalling deletes all of it.
- Advertising data is retained by Google according to its own retention schedules, described in its privacy policy. We cannot access or delete it on your behalf, but you can reset your advertising ID at any time to break the link to previous activity.
9. Security
On-device data is held in the app’s private storage area, which Android isolates from other apps. Ad requests are made over encrypted connections. Because we operate no servers and hold no personal data, there is no central store of your information to be breached.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to withdraw consent, and to data portability. Under UK and EU data protection law these rights apply to the ad-related processing described above.
Because we hold no personal data ourselves, requests about ad data are usually best directed to Google. We will help where we can — write to privacy@yourtechguys.uk and we will respond within 30 days.
If you are in the UK you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office; in the EEA, to your national data protection authority.
California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioural advertising other than through the consent-gated Google advertising described above.
11. Changes to this policy
If the app’s data practices change — for example if analytics or a paid ad-free option were added — this policy will be updated and the “last updated” date changed. Material changes will be highlighted in the app or its store listing.
